About Us

Montana is a unique and special place.  For those lucky enough to have called it home, it will always have a special place in the heart.  Whether it's the rugged Rocky Mountains in the west, the rolling plains in the East, or the big sky over it all, there's a good reason Montana is called the Last Best Place.

The Montana State Society (MSS) is a place for Montanans who live in the Washington, D.C. area to celebrate our shared heritage.  It's a slice of Montana right here in the District of Columbia.

MSS is a 501(c)(4) non-profit, non-partisan social and networking organization for people with affiliation to the state of Montana.  It is a member of the Congressionally Chartered National Association of State Societies, and is based in Washington, D.C.

The MSS membership is free, and open to anyone with an interest in Montana, living in or near Washington, D.C. Society activities are managed by volunteer officers, and supported by generous sponsors. We look forward to seeing you at the next event!

In addition to year-round social events, the Montana State Society hosts major events each year including the Washington, D.C. viewing party for the annual 'Brawl of the Wild' football game, an east coast version of the famous Rocky Mountain Oyster Festival (which has attained a loyal following in the District), and a celebration of local brews from around the west in the 'Go West Beer Fest.'
